WHAT THIS DOES
You choose one or more sources in a Mac dialog:
- Chrome: the Default profile's past seven days of history records.
- Safari: the main history database's past seven days of records.
- One folder you choose: counts of recently modified file types, using metadata only.

Browser output is only per-day counts for specific cooking websites and Facebook Marketplace URLs. The supported cooking-site list is in week-snapshot.js and in the report. It does not include all recipes, all browser profiles, or all devices. It does not recover cleared/private history.

NO passwords, cookies, messages, account names, screenshots, audio, document contents, or photo contents are read. No complete browsing timeline, raw URLs, page titles, search terms, file names, or folder paths are exported. This helper never uploads or sends anything, installs anything, changes settings, or runs in the background. It uses only built-in Mac tools.

Folder coverage is limited to four levels and 5,000 examined entries. Hidden files, symbolic links, app/photo-library packages, and common cache folders are skipped. File modification dates do not mean you used the file. A synced/downloaded file can have a recent date.

HOW TO RUN
1. Download and unzip ten-four-Week-Snapshot.zip on your personal Mac.
2. Read this file. You can inspect Start.command and week-snapshot.js in TextEdit first.
3. Double-click Start.command in the unzipped folder. It is packaged as an executable Terminal script, so macOS normally opens Terminal for you.
4. Read the Mac prompts. If security blocks it, stop and use the interview; do not change security settings. If it merely opens in a text editor, you can open Terminal, type zsh followed by a space, drag Start.command into Terminal, and press Return.
5. Read the scope dialog. Cancel if you do not want the review. Otherwise choose your sources.
6. If you choose a folder, select one small folder you own. Avoid your whole home directory, Library, or an entire disk.
7. Choose where to save your report, or discard it. Two files are saved together: Summary.html and Counts.json. Summary.html opens in your browser.
8. Review both files. Send one or both to Alex ONLY if you want him to review them. The interview page does not upload them.

The helper may be unable to read browser history due to macOS privacy settings or a different history format. It will skip that source. Do not use sudo, grant Full Disk Access, disable Gatekeeper, or change privacy protections to make this helper work. If a Mac security prompt blocks running the helper, stop and use the ordinary interview instead; we can review the prompt together.

WHERE THE DATA GOES
The report is written to the folder you choose. If that folder is cloud-synced, it follows your existing sync settings. No separate network transfer is performed. You can delete the report and this helper whenever you want. The helper creates no scheduled task or persistent service.

WHAT A RESULT MEANS
Activity is a clue, not proof of frustration or a validated solution. The report shows observations separately from possible experiments and asks you to confirm what fits. With no matching data, it says so. It never promises money/time savings, diagnoses a problem, or hides a finding behind a booking button.

FIRST THING TO TRY
If meal planning is actually difficult: keep three meals, their recipe links, and missing ingredients in one weekly note.
If Marketplace coordination is actually difficult: keep one shortlist with item, price, pickup area, and next step.
These are experiments to consider, not findings about you until you confirm them.

TESTING STATUS
Tested using synthetic Chrome/Safari SQLite databases and temporary sample files. Checks cover seven-day boundaries, unrelated/lookalike URL exclusion, missing and unsupported histories, metadata-only folder counts, hidden files, links, and report escaping. No real browsing history or personal folders were scanned during development. Lindsay's actual Mac permissions, browser layout, and dialog flow still need a first-run check with her participation.

September 4 update: fixed folder metadata compatibility on macOS. Verified with synthetic folders, including missing and linked locations. To add report counts to your interview, use Add a helper report and select Counts.json. This reads the report locally in the page; it does not submit it.
